Independent Member for Indi Helen Haines wants an inquiry.
Dr Haines told Michael West Media that “the decision to go to war is the gravest decision any government could make. It should be a decision only taken when all other peaceful mechanisms for dispute settlement have been exhausted. There is no easy yes or no answer to the question on war powers reform. It is an idea very worthy exploring but there are many elements to consider, including that parliamentarians don’t have access to the same security briefings as the Prime Minister and Cabinet.”
