OUT. Executive departs as Cricket Australia admits conflict of interest

by | May 22, 2026 | What's the scam?

Cricket Australia confirms conflict of interest over a major IT contract has led to departure of senior executive.

Earlier today, Cricket Australia announced that an independent investigation into the controversial $600,000 SST Cloud contract has substantiated an undeclared conflict of interest, resulting in the departure of the senior executive at the centre of the allegations.

In a statement, CA emphasised that the internal review process began well before any media reporting and that no breaches of recruitment or procurement policy were found, aside from the undeclared conflict.

According to staff present at an all-hands update, CEO Todd Greenberg acknowledged the whistleblower report and the substantiated conflict of interest, but described the executive’s actions as an “error of judgment”. An MWM source said Greenberg praised the departing executive for doing “a great job” and took no questions from staff.

There was also no mention of the multiple linked companies (TruFyre and SST Cloud entities), the timing of director changes, or whether any contracts would be reviewed or annulled.

Mainstream coverage

The story has gained wider attention in recent days, with several mainstream outlets picking up on the governance concerns and the swift exit of the senior Digital & Technology figure. The timing of the investigation’s conclusion — shortly after MWM’s reporting — has raised eyebrows, though CA insists the process was already underway, telling MWM,

the process was unaffected by external public interest reporting.

The speed with which CA has wrapped up its review, coinciding with sustained media coverage, does, however, raise legitimate questions about whether public interest journalism played any role in accelerating the outcome.

Meanwhile, despite the seriousness of the findings, the Australian Cricketers’ Association is yet to issue any public comment or seek further assurances on governance standards.
