Dorinda Cox on war powers reform

by Staff Writers | Sep 28, 2022 | War Powers Reform

A staff member for Greens senator Dorinda Cox told MWM that the senator supported war powers reform but our inquiry was best directed to senator Jordon Steele-John, the party’s spokesperson for foreign affairs and peace & nuclear disarmament.

Senator Jordon Steele-John recently provided MWM with the following statement:

“Part of this is the commitment from all our members of parliament to reform the way in which Australia makes the decision to go to war. We firmly believe that a parliamentary vote should be required for the use of the Australian military overseas and introduced legislation in the last parliament to make that a reality. Greens Spokesperson for Peace and Disarmament Senator Steele-John and Greens Spokesperson for Defence Senator Shoebridge will work in collaboration with their Australian Greens colleagues to further that legislation during this parliament and hope to see an outcome where all Australians are represented in one of the most important decisions we can make as a country.”
