The King’s School headmaster controversy spills into court

by Michael West | Jan 6, 2026 | What's the scam?

Controversial headmaster of The King’s School, Tony George, is suing the school over his termination with the claim rumoured to be in the range of $4-$6m. What’s the scam?

The scam is the leadership of Australia’s oldest independent school has been in a holding pattern since revelations last July that George had “clipped a boy over the ear” during a Religious Education class. The school subsequently held an ‘independent investigation’ into the incident and now George has escalated the matter to the Federal Court.

George’s position had become untenable following the incident and revelations of financial mismanagement amid rising disaffection by the King’s teaching staff and old boys.
