Politics in the pub: PM cops a spray from Ray

This what happens when you let Scott Morrison loose among the people.

”I’ve had a go mate, I’ve worked all my life and paid my taxes.” A man accosted Scott Morrison at the Edgeworth Tavern near Newcastle on Wednesday night. The man apparently has a payment issue with the NSW iCare system and cited the 1991 Social Security Act.

“I’ve been fighting for 12 years, mate – you treat a disability pensioner that worked all his life … he paid his taxes, now he’s getting taxed ahead,” the man, named later only as Ray, told Morrison.

“This is what you said when you got elected last time, ‘we’re going to help all those people that worked all their lives, paid their taxes and those that have a go, we’ll look after you’. Well, I’ve had a go, mate, I’ve worked all my life and paid my taxes.”The man also accused the PM of breaking his promise to establish a federal integrity commission.

It was an unwelcome intrusion for Morrison, whose focus was on pulling beers and posing for selfies. The frustrated man will be a national hero for some. Rest assured that his background is being combed for juicy revelations (if any exist) by certain political operatives and media outlets.
