Hunt attacks Labor’s Medicare policy as “slush fund”, forgets previous three years

Retiring Health Minister Greg Hunt has attacked Labor’s promised $970m investment in Medicare and general practice as a slush fund at the discretion of the minister, perhaps forgetting his party’s own history.

Only last month, Morrison was defending accusations of having amassed a $10 billion slush fund for this election with unknown projects already signed off on by the federal cabinet but not yet announced in the Budget.

His party was accused of much the same during the last election, after which came the $660 million car parks slush fund, the $100 million community sport infrastructure program, the $200 Building Better Regions Fund among others which have been shown to be favoured towards Coalition-held or marginal seats at the ministers discretion.
