What’s the scam with the Future Fund investing in Israel’s biggest weapons maker, Elbit Systems, when Israel is on trial for genocide at the International Court of Justice?
We are not sure what the scam is because the Future Fund and its Board of Guardians are refusing to respond to inquiries. Since our last media request for comment, Israel has ramped up its war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.
Pictured above are the Future Fund’s Board of Guardians: Mary Reemst, Patricia Cross, Deborah Ralston, Rosemary Vilgan, Michael Watchtel, Nicola Wakefield Evans. A response from the Guardians has been sought by MWM to no avail.
They are appointed by the ministers responsible for the Future Fund: Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Finance Minister Katy Gallagher. “Corporate governance” is their purview.
“The Chair and other members of the Board are appointed by the responsible Ministers, in accordance with legislation, and selected for their expertise in investing in financial assets, managing investments and corporate governance.”
Therefore, the governance of Australia’s sovereign wealth fund includes investing in genocide.
