Farewell Fred: Christian Dems replaced by anti-religion tax free candidates

by | May 18, 2022 | Lobbyland

For the first time in nearly 50 years, Fred Nile of the Festival of Light and insolvent Christian Democrat party is not fielding a team in the federal election.

On March 17, 2022, the federal branch of the party was deregistered by the AEC due to not having enough members.

On the opposite side of politics, both the Fusion and Reason parties are running candidates who are seeking to wind back the tax-free status of religious bodies.
