A Connie is forced off the political train

Anyone frustrated by the me-tooism of the main opposition party would find a Liberal senator’s free character reference for Scott Morrison a refreshing antidote.

On Thursday Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells denounced Scott Morrison as ”a bully with no moral compass”. The senator was placed in an unwinnable position on the Coalition Senate ticket and decided to go out in a blaze of what is nowadays designated as truth-telling. What is it about character references in politics? As Churchill apparently said of the parliamentary chamber, the opposition is in front of you, your enemies are behind you.

CFW didn’t have the numbers, which is ultimately the only thing that matters when trying to survive this ruthless game.
